Light of the World School

In rural areas of Senegal only 8% of children receive education past primary school. Kids may walk miles to get to school, and due to budget shortages and travel limitations, their teacher may not even be there.

In spring of 2022, we launched Ngonine's first ever Christian school with 45 students. Using the curriculum from our sister school in the neighboring village of Baback, it is called the Light of the World (Lumière du Monde). The school uses the Ngonine Church building and students are taught in French as it is Senegal’s primary language. The values of the school are listed as “hard work, respect, well-being, listening, excellence.”

Tening Sarr, Ngonine Teacher

“Our school helps by using Christ-centered principles they need to succeed - spiritually, economically, and in their relationships. Your support and help has made the school happen, and I think now it will only grow in Ngonine and other villages. I always have something to do as a teacher, but I draw my strength from God for everything I do!”
