Animal Program

Over 60% of rural families in Senegal receive the majority of their income from livestock work. Our Animal Program includes 3 businesses within including: veterinary care, feed store, and livestock program for local ducks, turkeys, chickens, donkeys, goats, cows, and horses. The village of Ngonine relies heavily on their animals for success. The health of livestock directly impacts animal productivity, meat quality and the health and wealth of those tasked with caring for them.

In 2022, Animal Program employees were given funds to purchase 4 rams to raise and sell. With the profits, 8 new rams were purchased to expand the program. One of the staff wisely invested their own profit into buying a sheep of their own to raise and sell! The business skills being developed, along with the profit flow, show great promise for expansion.
